Grimek was the only real true Hercules, this man built that body long before steriods, and could lift huge weights, was a Olympic weight lifting champion, imagine he weighed around 190 lbs and lift over three hundered pounds over head, not laying on a bench, think of lifting a hundered lbs over your body weight over head?
Grimek was the true Hercules, and a great guy, I wrote him three times after I had a back injury he wrote back each time with training advise, like they say they don't make them like that anymore.
Dan Lurie was also a forgotten/bodybuilding pioneer. He was voted America's most muscular man three consecutive years in 1941,1942, and 1943. I believe Lurie actually challenged Grimek to a contest, but Grimek's management refused. However, it is refreshing to see actual bodybuilders in an rea when we did not have these chemicalized freaks.
