"Corner of Carl's Room" -- early 1900s

A photo that was recently sold by the eBay dealer "Gargantua" along with two enlargements -- a true bachelor pad (note the motto "Don't Marry")!

  1. Really cool. I like the two revolvers hanging on the clothes tree, and what looks like a case holding field glasses. Obviously a rough and ready gentleman. He was a pipe smoker too! Wonder if that's his tobacco pouch hanging from the ceiling? Those early barbells on the floor in front of that trunk are interesting too.

In addition to his collection of studly guy pics he seems to be a Navy and powerboat enthusiast. From the types of boats that I can see, and the details that I can see, my guess for the picture's date might be 1915-1925?

If you look at the large, double-paged picture of the warship above and to the left of the "Don't Marry" sign, that looks like it could be the original design of the "Lexington" class battle cruisers from 1913 or so. The design had seven funnels in 1-2-1-2-1 placement.

Question? To the RIGHT of the marriage sign is some kind of fixture. I can't figure it out, and it's driving me nuts.
